Description

Bunny Bait is a festive, crunchy snack mix perfect for Easter celebrations. This sweet and salty treat combines cereals, pretzels, peanuts, butterscotch chips, and colorful Easter M&Ms all coated in creamy vanilla almond bark for a deliciously addictive snack that kids and adults will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 3½ cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3½ cups honey nut Cheerios
  • 1½ cups pretzel sticks
  • ½ cup salted peanuts
  • 10-ounce bag Easter M&Ms
  • ½ cup butterscotch chips

Coating

  • 16 ounces vanilla almond bark (chopped; approximately 2 cups or 8 squares)

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking sheet: Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside for later use.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the Rice Chex cereal, honey nut Cheerios, pretzel sticks, and salted peanuts. Stir gently to mix evenly.
  3. Melt almond bark: Place the chopped vanilla almond bark in a large microwave-safe dish. Microwave in 15-second increments, stirring after each, until completely melted and smooth.
  4. Combine coating and mix: Pour the melted almond bark over the cereal mixture. Toss everything together carefully until all pieces are thoroughly coated with the almond bark.
  5. Fold in candies: Gently fold in the Easter M&Ms and butterscotch chips, making sure they are evenly distributed without breaking the candies.
  6. Spread on prepared pan: Transfer the coated mixture to the lined sheet pan and spread it out evenly to form a thin layer.
  7. Set mixture: Allow the mixture to set at room temperature for about 45 minutes until the almond bark has fully hardened.
  8. Break into pieces and serve: Once set, break the Bunny Bait into bite-sized clusters and transfer them to a serving dish for enjoying or storing.

Notes

  • You can substitute the vanilla almond bark with white chocolate chips if preferred.
  • Make sure to stir the almond bark frequently while microwaving to avoid burning.
  • Store Bunny Bait in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
  • For a nut-free version, omit the peanuts and substitute pretzel sticks with a nut-free crunchy alternative.
  • Adjust the amount of M&Ms and butterscotch chips depending on your sweetness preference.
