Instructions
- Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add 1 pound ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon to ensure even cooking.
- Season the Meat: Add 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, and salt and black pepper to taste. Stir the mixture and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Set Beef Aside: Remove the skillet from heat and set the seasoned beef mixture aside while you prepare the sauce and wraps.
- Prepare the Cucumber Feta Sauce: In a bowl, combine 1 cup Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese, 1/2 cup finely grated and drained cucumber, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 clove minced garlic, and salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well until smooth.
- Warm the Flatbreads: Heat your flatbreads following package instructions to make them pliable and warm for wrapping.
- Assemble the Wraps: Spread a generous layer of the cucumber feta sauce over each warm flatbread. Top with the seasoned beef mixture, then add sliced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and thinly sliced red onion as desired.
- Roll and Serve: Roll up the flatbreads tightly to enclose the filling. Serve immediately while warm for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- You can substitute ground lamb for beef to make it more traditionally Greek.
- Draining the grated cucumber well prevents the sauce from becoming watery.
- For a vegetarian version, omit beef and add grilled vegetables or chickpeas.
- Use gluten-free wraps to make the recipe gluten-free.
- These wraps are best served fresh but can be wrapped tightly in foil and refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
