Ingredients
Scale
Base Mixture
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup sugar cookie mix (dry mix from the pouch)
- 1 bag marshmallows (10 ounces, about 40 large marshmallows)
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Additional Mix-ins & Decoration
- 1/3 cup mini marshmallows
- 2 tbsp sprinkles (Christmas or other color)
- Additional sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9″x13″ baking tray with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Melt Butter: Place a large pot on low heat and gently melt the ½ cup butter, ensuring it does not brown or burn.
- Add Sugar Cookie Mix: Stir in the ½ cup sugar cookie mix into the melted butter. Continue stirring and cook for 1 minute to combine flavors.
- Melt Marshmallows: Add the entire 10-ounce bag of marshmallows to the pot. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are fully melted and the mixture is smooth and evenly combined with the butter and cookie mixture.
- Mix in Cereal: Remove the pot from heat. Add the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal gradually, gently folding with a spatula or wooden spoon to coat the cereal without crushing it. Spray the spatula with cooking spray beforehand to prevent sticking.
- Add Mini Marshmallows & Sprinkles: Stir in 1/3 cup mini marshmallows and 2 tablespoons of sprinkles. Some mini marshmallows will melt slightly, while others will remain whole, adding a fun texture.
- Press Into Pan: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking pan. Spread it out evenly, pressing down lightly—not too hard—to create a uniform layer without compacting too much.
- Decorate: Sprinkle additional sprinkles on top for a festive appearance.
- Cool and Serve: Let the treats cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes until firm. Cut into 18 to 24 square pieces and enjoy!
Notes
- Spraying the spatula with cooking spray before mixing helps prevent the sticky mixture from clinging to the utensil.
- Do not press the Rice Krispies mixture too firmly into the pan to keep the treats light and crunchy.
- You can customize the sprinkles for different occasions—use red and green for Christmas, pastel for Easter, or your favorite colors year-round.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
