Ingredients
Scale
Halloumi and Frying
- 8 oz Halloumi Cheese, sliced ½-inch thick
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil (for frying)
Wrap and Vegetables
- 4 pieces Tortilla Wraps (flour or gluten-free)
- 1 medium Red Bell Pepper, sliced thinly
- 1 medium Cucumber, julienned
- ¼ medium Red Onion, sliced thinly
- 4 leaves Lettuce, torn into pieces
- 1 medium Avocado, sliced or mashed
- Fresh Herbs (such as cilantro or parsley), to taste
- Pickled Vegetables, to taste
Sauces
- 4 tbsp Sweet Chili Sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Prepare the halloumi: Slice halloumi evenly into ½-inch thick pieces. Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Fry halloumi slices for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden and crispy. Place fried halloumi on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Prepare the vegetables: Slice red bell pepper into thin strips. Julienne the cucumber to add a refreshing crunch. Thinly slice the red onion and tear lettuce leaves into smaller pieces for easier layering inside the wrap.
- Assemble the wraps: Lay out each tortilla wrap and spread a thin layer of sweet chili sauce evenly across the surface. Place crispy halloumi slices onto each wrap, followed by the prepared vegetables, avocado, fresh herbs, and pickled vegetables as desired.
- Roll the wraps: Fold the bottom edge of the tortilla over the filling, then tuck in the sides securely. Roll up the wrap burrito-style to enclose all the fillings tightly.
- Optional toasting: For extra warmth and crispiness, lightly toast the assembled wraps in the same skillet or oven for a few minutes until heated through and slightly crispy on the outside.
- Serve: Serve immediately with additional sweet chili sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy your flavorful and satisfying vegetarian wraps!
Notes
- You can substitute the tortilla wraps with gluten-free options if desired.
- Try adding pickled vegetables for extra tang and texture.
- For a spicier kick, choose a hot chili sauce variant or add fresh chili slices.
- To keep the wraps warm for later, wrap them tightly in foil and reheat gently.
- Halloumi can be grilled instead of pan-fried if preferred.
