Description

This Sweet Spicy Hot Honey Garlic Pizza combines a crispy golden crust with a luscious layer of melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, enhanced by a bold hot honey garlic drizzle blending sweetness, heat, and tanginess. Finished with fresh parsley, it offers a flavorful and unique pizza experience perfect for a quick yet memorable meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Base

  • 1 pound pizza dough, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced and divided

Cheeses

  • 2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Hot Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 0.25 teaspoon kosher salt

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare the skillet: Lightly oil a 12-inch cast-iron skillet or round pizza pan with the olive oil, coating the bottom and sides to ensure the crust crisps as it bakes.
  2. Shape the dough: Place the pizza dough in the center of the pan and press it outward evenly to the edges. If the dough resists stretching, let it rest for 5–10 minutes before continuing.
  3. Brush garlic butter: Mix the melted butter with 2 minced garlic cloves, then brush this garlic butter evenly over the dough surface and edges for added flavor.
  4. Add cheeses: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the dough, followed by grated Parmesan cheese close to the edges.
  5. Make hot honey garlic sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, hot sauce, crushed red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, the remaining minced garlic clove, and kosher salt until smooth.
  6. Apply half the sauce: Drizzle about half of the hot honey garlic mixture across the cheese in small pools rather than covering uniformly.
  7. Bake the pizza: Bake in a preheated oven at 475°F (245°C) for 13–15 minutes until the crust is deep golden, cheese is bubbling, and edges are crisp.
  8. Finish with sauce: Remove pizza from oven and immediately drizzle the remaining hot honey garlic sauce evenly over the top for an extra burst of flavor.
  9. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the pizza. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing into 8 pieces and serving warm.

Notes

  • Use room temperature dough for easier stretching and better texture.
  • Adjust the amount of crushed red pepper flakes and hot sauce to customize the spiciness.
  • If you don’t have a cast-iron skillet, a pizza stone or regular pizza pan works as substitutes.
  • Resting the pizza after baking allows the flavors to meld and the cheese to set slightly for easier slicing.
  • For a crisper crust, you can preheat the skillet or pan before placing the dough.
