Ingredients
Scale
Wonton Cups
- 24 wonton wrappers
Filling
- ½ pound lean ground beef
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1½ tablespoons mild taco seasoning
- 1 cup shredded fiesta blend cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
Toppings
- ½ cup guacamole
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup pico de gallo
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray a regular-size muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Wonton Cups: Press one wonton wrapper into each muffin tin cup. Then overlay a second wrapper on top of the first and press it down firmly so the wrappers line the bottom and sides of each muffin cup. Repeat this process for all 12 cupcake wells.
- Bake Wonton Cups: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the wonton wrappers turn golden brown, especially at the tips. Remove and let cool slightly.
- Cook Ground Beef: While the wonton cups bake, add the ground beef to a small (1½ to 2-quart) saucepan or nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Stir frequently, breaking the meat into small pieces, until fully cooked and no longer pink.
- Season Meat: Reduce heat to low. Stir in the mild taco seasoning and 3 tablespoons of water. Let the mixture simmer gently for a few minutes to blend flavors, then remove from heat.
- Fill Wonton Cups: Spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of the seasoned taco meat into each baked wonton cup.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of shredded fiesta blend cheese over the meat layer in each cup.
- Add Lettuce: Top the cheese with ½ to 1 tablespoon of shredded lettuce, adding a fresh crunch.
- Add Guacamole: Spoon about 1 to 1½ teaspoons of guacamole over the lettuce layer in each cup.
- Add Sour Cream: Place a 1 teaspoon dollop of sour cream in the center of the guacamole on each taco bite.
- Add Pico de Gallo: Finally, spoon 1 to 2 teaspoons of pico de gallo atop the sour cream layer. Serve the taco bites immediately to enjoy the crisp texture.
Notes
- Use mild taco seasoning for a family-friendly flavor or substitute with spicy seasoning if desired.
- Double the recipe for larger gatherings or parties.
- Wonton cups can be baked a few hours ahead and stored in an airtight container for crispness.
- Variations: Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or plant-based meat for alternative options.
- Serve immediately after topping to maintain crispness of wonton cups.
