Ingredients
Scale
Turkey Patties
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Peanut Sauce
- 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
- 2 to 3 tablespoons warm water
Additional Toppings
- 4 burger buns, toasted
- 1 cup shredded carrot
- 1 cup cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Prepare the turkey mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, green onions, cilantro, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just incorporated to avoid tough patties.
- Form patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a round patty, about 3/4 inch thick, ensuring even sizes for uniform cooking.
- Preheat and oil grill or skillet: Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the cooking surface to prevent sticking and promote a nice sear.
- Cook turkey patties: Place patties on the hot grill or skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), ensuring they are fully cooked and juicy.
- Make peanut sauce: While patties cook, whisk together peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, honey, and sriracha in a small bowl. Gradually add warm water, stirring until the sauce is smooth and spreadable.
- Assemble burgers: Spread a generous layer of peanut sauce on the toasted buns. Place the cooked turkey patties on the bottom buns, drizzle with additional peanut sauce, then top with shredded carrot, cucumber slices, fresh cilantro leaves, and thinly sliced red onion. Crown with the top buns.
- Serve: Serve immediately with extra peanut sauce on the side for dipping or additional topping, enjoying the harmonious flavors and textures.
Notes
- Use ground turkey breast for a leaner option or a mix of dark and white meat for juicier patties.
- Adjust sriracha amount based on your preferred spice level or omit for milder flavor.
- To keep patties intact during cooking, avoid overmixing the turkey mixture.
- Toasted buns add a pleasant crunch and prevent sogginess from the sauce.
- The peanut sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 3 days.
- Check patty internal temperature with a meat thermometer for safe consumption.
