Instructions
- Mix Burger Ingredients: Add red onion, garlic, Balti Masala paste, frozen peas, red pepper, coriander, lime juice, egg, minced beef, and oat flour to a large bowl. Mix thoroughly until fully combined into a cohesive mixture.
- Form Burgers: Divide the mixture evenly into 12 mini burgers or 6 large burgers according to your preference.
- Heat Pan and Oil: Place a frying pan over medium heat and add a drizzle of rapeseed oil, warming it until shimmering.
- Cook Burgers: Place the burgers in the pan and fry them, turning occasionally, until both sides are golden brown and the meat is cooked through completely.
- Melt Cheese: Grate cheddar cheese onto each burger while still in the pan, allowing it to melt slightly for a rich topping.
- Keep Warm: Remove burgers from the pan and place them in a warm oven to keep hot until ready to serve.
- Fry Pineapple: Using the oils left in the pan, fry the pineapple slices until they develop char marks on both sides, enhancing their sweetness.
- Prepare Sauce: In a small bowl, combine natural yogurt, lime juice, tomato puree, and Balti Masala paste. Stir well to blend into a smooth, tangy sauce.
- Assemble Burgers: Place each cooked burger on a warm bun, top with charred pineapple slice, a dollop of the prepared sauce, fresh lettuce, and a slice of tomato.
- Serve for Babies: For babies, omit the bun and serve the burger patty with a little sauce spooned over the top, making it easier and safer for little ones to eat.
Notes
- You can make either 6 large burgers or 12 mini burgers depending on serving size preference.
- Keeping the burgers warm in the oven prevents them from cooling while you finish cooking the pineapple and preparing toppings.
- Ground oats as a binder make this a gluten-free option if certified gluten-free oats are used.
- Adjust Balti Masala paste quantity to your preferred spice level.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute the minced beef with plant-based mince.
- Use rapeseed oil or any neutral oil suitable for frying.
- Serve immediately after assembling for best texture and flavor.
