Description

A delicious and satisfying Turkey Bacon Avocado Sandwich featuring layers of provolone cheese, crispy bacon, fresh turkey, ripe avocado, and crisp vegetables, all brought together with a creamy mustard mayo sauce on toasted sourdough bread. Perfect for a quick, flavorful lunch or light dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread & Cheese

  • 2 slices sourdough bread (or other artisan bread, lightly toasted and cooled)
  • 2 slices provolone cheese

Meat & Bacon

  • 3 slices cooked bacon (microwave bacon works too)
  • 3 ounces deli turkey (or leftover cooked turkey)

Vegetables & Extras

  • 2 large pieces of green leaf lettuce
  • 1/2 ripe avocado (thinly sliced)
  • 3 slices tomato
  • 3 thin slices red onion

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayo (Best Foods/Hellman’s recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, and yellow mustard with a pinch of salt. Whisk the mixture until it is smooth and creamy. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the sauce until you are ready to assemble the sandwich. This sauce quantity is enough for several sandwiches.
  2. Toast the bread and assemble the layers: Lightly toast the sourdough bread slices and allow them to fully cool. Spread the prepared sauce generously on both pieces of bread. On one slice, layer the provolone cheese, cooked bacon slices, and turkey. On the other slice, add the green leaf lettuce, thinly sliced avocado, tomato slices, a pinch of salt and pepper, and red onion slices.
  3. Finish and serve: Carefully sandwich the two halves together. Cut the sandwich in half using a sharp knife for easier handling. Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh flavors and textures.

Notes

  • The sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Use leftover turkey or any cooked turkey breast for convenience.
  • Microwave bacon is a time saver, but freshly cooked bacon adds more flavor and crunch.
  • Let the toasted bread cool completely before spreading sauce to avoid sogginess.
  • Adjust the amount of sauce to your taste preferences.
